All About a NC Bride’s Big Fat Amazon Wedding
The first thing you always hear about weddings how expensive they can become. The average cost of a wedding in the US is $34,000, and because of that couples will be engaged for years while they and their families try to save up the money for their wedding, but one bride decided to take a different route and that saved herself thousands.
Ashley Hicks, newlywed from Raleigh, North Carolina, has made her rounds on social media with her gorgeous Country Chic wedding. The most impressive part? She bought everything used for her wedding from Amazon.
With only a few months to plan her June wedding after they got engaged on Valentine’s Day, Ashley and her beau Tre reached out to wedding planner Natalie Taylor, who told them Amazon is a great place to find beautiful but affordable decorations for their wedding.
From gifts for in-laws and suspenders for her groom to jewelry and her own wedding dress, Ashley found everything she needed. “ We had about 150 guests, and I probably spent about $3,000 total including our food, all the attire, decorations, everything.”
When asked if she would advise others to do the same, Ashley was quick to answer yes. “I still have friends to this day that are engaged and got engaged before we did, but they haven't had a wedding yet because they're still saving money," says Ashley. "You don't have to do that.”
Ashley’s story proves that weddings can be beautiful and inexpensive and that you can have a cheaper wedding with eloping but also have an extravagant wedding without spending a fortune. Her advice to brides-to-be on the subject was:
"Just get over yourself."Get over yourself and don't try to impress all of your guests that are going to be there. At the end of the day, it's you and your husband's day. You two will remember it for the rest of your life. Other people will not."
Since her special day, Ashley has started a Youtube channel, where she hopes to share her tips about weddings as well as household hacks.
