A Simple & Personal Wedding From Bindi Irwin & Chandler Powell
Amidst some of the craziness that goes on in the world, there’s always something beautiful happening. While weddings are one of the hardest-hit events at this time, some have made some changes so they could still have their special day. This was the case for Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell.
The couple decided to change some plans and turned their wedding into a private and personal affair at Australia Zoo on March 25th. It was a fitting idea as they used the time as a way to remember Bindi’s father, the late Steve Irwin.
Bindi was walked down the aisle by her brother Robert, wearing a dress that had been chosen because of its resemblance to Bindi’s mother’s dress. She had actually wanted to wear her mother’s dress, which had been in the family for over 50 years, but found out that it was too old to be tailored. Bindi said the sunflower lace in her dress reminded her of the sunflower fields her mom and dad used to drive her through as a child.
The couple lit a candle in memory of Bindi’s father and made their vows in the place they call home, Australia Zoo, with Bindi’s mother and brother, and Chandler’s best friend present. The zoo was founded by Bindi’s grandparents and originally called Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park and renamed in 1998 when her father took over management.
The couple’s cake was also a symbol of their love for family and conservation. The cake was decorated to look like a tree and flavored vanilla and strawberry. When Powell speaks of his home state of Florida, he has mentioned how it is often called the strawberry capital of the world.
A television special will be held on April 18th on Animal Planet that will be dedicated to the happy couple’s wedding.
