A Beautiful Seaside Colombian Wedding | Sayda + Hernan

The Setting and the Beautiful Couple
Sayda and Hernan, a sweet couple from Villavicencio, Colombia, chose to have a beautiful Colombian church wedding ceremony, at Los Alcatraces, in front of the sea. The reception followed at a Colombian house named Kapicua.
Wedding Planning and Decor
The couple enlisted the help of Colombian wedding planner Isa Katime a year before their wedding. They specifically wanted Isa Katime as their planner, so they planned the date around her schedule! Isa Katime is a well-known wedding planner located in Santa Marta, Colombia. Her designs and attention to detail is astounding!
After the wedding ceremony, there was a cocktail hour prior to the reception. The cocktail hour was on the beach and the guests were served snacky foods, beers and cocktails.
Entertainment
Sayda and Hernan love music, so all bands they chose, had a special participation in the wedding. They chose a chill out and caribbean sound for the cocktail time for guests to relax. Then later, an instrumental-cover band was chosen with a tropical band and vallenato singer. The first and the last singers were women; in fact, apparently in vallenato music it isn't common to find a woman singer.
Personalized Choreography
They had fireworks following the reception and even created a choreographed dance with friends to replace the traditional first dance. It was so awesome and the couple and friends had quite a few rehearsals just to get it right.
Crazy Hour
It is also a tradition/common in Colombian weddings to have a "crazy hour." Crazy hour might usually include things such as strinking accessories, allusives to carnivals or a specific topic -neon for example- and folcloric dance performance. For Sayda and Hernan's crazy hour, a music mix was created combining "urban sounds" like champeta and reggaeton and "typical dances" like mapalé, cumbia. In general, it turned out to be a funny performance!
