Baker & Kate met one another in medical school, started dating, and fell in love. They both loved touring vineyards and learning about winemaking, and it became a dream to own their own vineyard. When they purchased the Maybell Farm property in 2014, they couldn't help but notice that the rolling hills overlooking the Watauga River were begging for grapevines to be planted. They embarked on a search for the perfect grape varieties that could brave the cold, wet winters of the High Country.
