'Fortunately, I found Alan and his staff at Vernon Jewelers in Salem, Or. After a great deal of effort it was decided that the best 'repair' would be to just re-create it with a clone. I know this isn't for everybody, but the sentimentality and the provenance of the ring was not as strong as my desire to have the ring restored to it's original beauty. Well, it took some time, but was SO worth the wait. We are ecstatic with the ring today. It is exactly the ring that Dad purchased in 1950, strong, beautiful and flawless. No stress fractures, no failing points, exactly perfect. There are not words to express my gratitude to Vernon Jewelers, I now have another 70 years of family tradition to pass along to my children and grandchildren. '
